GUWAHATI: The Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) has released a forecast revealing that Guwahati’s weather is expected to hit 34° Celsius this week as the city anticipates the arrival of summer season.
As per the RWFC forecast which released today, the maximum temperature in Guwahati’s Dispur is likely to hit 34° Celsius from today, with the minimum temperature being 16° Celsius but expected to rise further throughout the week.

The city has been witnessing a sharp spike in temperatures as the people complained about the heat in the afternoons, even as the mornings felt cold.
Speaking on the sudden increase in temperatures, an officegoer stated, “If the heat is so unbearable in March, I shudder to think of what will happen in May or August.”

“The level of climate change that has happened in the last few years is alarming. The month of March feels like August now. Usually, in Guwahati, the arrival of rain signifies changing weather but this time we didn’t even get much rain,” another person told GPlus.
The changing weather pattern is a cause for concern indeed even as Guwahati witnessed high deforestation and felling of trees for construction projects leading to countless issues, including a decline in the air quality and a rise in man-animal conflicts in the outskirts of Guwahati due to encroachment in nearby forest areas.
