Guwahati’s Dighalipukhuri-Noonmati Flyover To Be Completed By January, 2026

The Chandmari-Noonmati stretch to be completed by March, 2025; no work during Durga Puja

GUWAHATI: The Noonmati-Chandmari stretch of the under-construction Dighalipukhuri-Noonmati flyover in Guwahati will be completed by March 31, 2025 while the remaining will be completed by January, 2026.

Revealing this during a late-night inspection on Sunday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also said that the work will be halted during the upcoming Durga Puja for ease of the commuters. Besides, the service roads, which are now virtually non-motorable after the recent rain and the ongoing construction, will also be repaired ahead of Durga puja.

He said the flyover from Noonmati will come and meet the Chandmari flyover by March 31, 2025. “We are expecting to then complete the flyover from Dighalipukhuri to Chandmari flyover by January 2026, give or take a couple of months,” he said,

Taking to the microblogging site X, the chief minister asserted that the process is underway.

He said, "It's past midnight now. I just inspected the ongoing work of the Dighalipukhuri-Noonmati flyover. We'll open the Noonmati-Chandmari stretch by March 2025 and the rest by early 2026. We will also interconnect this flyover with key areas like Rajgarh & Ulubari in the coming days."

One flyover at Cycle Factory is under construction while preliminary work for another at Rukminigaon is also underway. The flyovers in the city have, however, come in for severe criticism as these are being held responsible for the flooding after every bout of heavy downpour as was witnessed recently.
