Guwahati's Bishal Rajbongshi Wins Solo Dance Title At Guwahati Theatre Festival

The stage at the Pragjyoti ITA Centre in Guwahati came alive on September 28, 2024, with a performance that left the audience spellbound.

16-year-old Bishal Rajbongshi, a student of Ashish Dance Studio in Maligaon, emerged as the winner of the first-ever Solo Dance Competition at the GPlus Guwahati Theatre Festival.

Bishal, who has been dancing since the age of six, captivated the judges with his remarkable expressions and clean movements, earning him a well-deserved victory.

For him, dance is not just a passion—it's a way of life. Currently studying in Class 11, Bishal seamlessly balances his academic life with his love for dance, which he describes as something he "lives, breathes, and sleeps for."

The young dancer has already made a name for himself in the region, having participated in various competitions across Assam and beyond. He even auditioned for the popular reality show Super Dancer in Mumbai, showcasing his talent on a national stage. Bishal specialises in contemporary, hip hop, and open style, blending these forms into performances that leave an impact.

At the Guwahati Theatre Festival, his standout performance earned him a ₹10,000 cash prize, along with a trophy and a certificate. Reflecting on his win, Bishal said, "It was an ecstatic feeling. There were several good dancers, and I feel blessed to have won."

The competition judges were equally impressed, praising Bishal's maturity in dance at such a young age. "At such a young age, such expressions and clean movements are rare to see. This is just the beginning. He will go far from here," they remarked, hinting at a bright future for the young performer.
