GUWAHATI: A 35-year-old woman from Guwahati has been apprehended by the city police officials.
The incident occurred on February 24, 2021. The woman, who is married, has been identified as Jayeda Khatoon. She is a resident No. 2 Railway Gate at Lakhtakia.
The Panbazar police have recovered 11 small containers (vial) of suspected brown sugar from the possession of Jayeda Khatoon. The police are currently interrogating her and the matter is being investigated further.
Moreover, this isn't the first incident of Brown Sugar smuggling in Guwahati to have come to light. Earlier in 2020, the Panbazar police caught three persons on December 25 in connection with a drug case. Police seized around 12.33 grams of drugs and six mobile phones from the possession of persons arrested in the case.
