GUWAHATI: Mrs. Rupaleem Goswami from Guwahati has recently won the 'Mrs. Universe Sincere' title. The event was held in Cebu, Philippines and 90 contestants from around the globe participated in the pageant.
The contest was held over a period of 7 days and each day consisted of different activities. The contestants were given the topic of “Domestic Violence” for their forum day and Mrs. Goswami presented a video on the issue and how women should stand up for themselves. She was the actor in the video herself.
During the costume round, she wore a national costume from India and danced Bihu. Her national costume was designed and sponsored by renowned fashion designer from India, Yana Ngoba Chakpu and her team from house of 'Yana in Style.' The costume was inspired by the Hornbill bird found in northeast India. The real feathers of dead birds were collected and used for the costume. The costume also had 11 antique pieces of jewellery weighing about 500 gms to 1 kg each. Everything that was used for her costume was hand-made and hand-woven.
Earlier this year, Mrs. Goswami had also won the title of Mrs. Asia Pacific Universe and Mrs. India Homemakers International 2018.
