GUWAHATI: A water pipe leakage was reported in the Fancy Bazar area of Guwahati today afternoon.
The leakage reportedly flooded the entire area near the Fancy Bazar bus stand.
The incident happened at the entrance of Phool Gali near the Fancy Bazar bus stand and led to major flooding in the area, including on the MG Road.

A video of the incident was shared by an X user, which showed a large amount of water leaking from a drain near the entrance of the Fancy Bazar Phool Gali.
An official from the Guwahati Jal Board (GJB) said that the incident happened due to flushing of the pipelines and the distribution network testing which was being done, as notified by the department earlier today.

The official further said, “The department was conducting flushing and testing the distribution network, due to which the leak happened. The situation has been rectified now.”
The official also informed that such incident may happen again in the future as the department is in the midst of testing the water pipelines across the city.
