GUWAHATI: Guwahati is witnessing a new trend of women drug couriers and dealers. After the Bharalumukh police held a woman drugs courier on Monday near Bhootnath, the Jalukbari Police in an operation held two women with substantial amount of brown sugar on Tuesday.
Acting on information the police held the duo near Katia Bridge in Jalukbari. The arrested have been named Sahira Begum and Hasina Begum.
The police recovered 20 small containers filled with brown sugar. The duo has been running the drugs business for some time now said the police.
The Crime Branch, Narcotics Control Bureau, Excise Department and Railway Protection Force have been launching joint operations against the drugs business across the city and have been successful in nabbing the couriers and dealers.
