Guwahati: Transport Authorities Conduct Drive Against Unruly City Buses

GUWAHATI: The regional transport authorities conducted yet another drive against unruly city buses in the city on Saturday, March 14.

A team comprising Transport Commisssioner Adil Khan, DIG and Court Commissioner Nitul Gogoi, Deputy Commissioner- Dibyajyoti Chakraborty, Deputy Commissioner of Transport Bapan Kalita- DTO (Enforcement), Pulak Goswami -Bus Owner Association conducted the operation from Ganeshguri to Adabari via Paltan Bazaar, and back to Ganeshguri through RG Baruah Road.

Two buses were seized during the drive including one private and one ASTC bus. Permits of both buses have been suspended due to not compliance of the new rules and regulations set up by the transport department.

It has to be mentioned that as per the directives of the Gauhati High Court, the RTA have been taking strict action against erring city buses and regular drives are being conducted since February.

And in a first, Bapan Kalita has also been leading drive against ASTC buses in association with both RTA (Enforcement) and the ASTC Vigilance Cell.
