GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Traffic Police on Tuesday, January 21, introduced a citizen-friendly initiative to address the growing issue of abandoned cars cluttering the city’s streets. Residents have been encouraged to report unclaimed or unattended vehicles in their areas, with the department promising swift action to tow them away.

“Unclaimed or unattended cars cluttering Guwahati streets?” The department posted on X. “Let us know, and we’ll tow it away! Help your city move smoothly.”
This approach has been taken to reduce traffic disruptions and free up parking spaces, which has been a longstanding concern for city residents. The move has been met with widespread appreciation, with several residents taking to social media to praise the department's prompt response.
Within hours of the announcement, an abandoned car was also reported and swiftly removed from the Survey area.
