GUWAHATI: Owing to the intensity observed during the Assam Bandh on December 10, many parents have refrained from sending their young kids to school today, December 11 out of fear.
"The protests against CAB yesterday were extreme. There were talks of extending the Bandh, protests were going on till late at night and even University examinations got cancelled for today. In such a situation, it didn't feel safe to send our children to school," expressed the parent of a Don Bosco School student.
In the same vein, another parent said, "Most private schools of Guwahati are located in the outskirts of the city including Amingaon and Lokhra. Sending kids so far amidst protests doesn't seem to be the right thing to do."
Additionally, hundreds of students in Guwahati have skipped schools and universities to join protests against the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
