GUWAHATI: In a sad incident, a 6th-semester student of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Guwahati was hit by an escort vehicle of the Assam cabinet minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma. The accident took place on Wednesday, near Bharalumukh.
The deceased has been identified as Anupam Chakma who is a resident of Tripura and was riding a motorcycle when it was hit by the vehicle.

Soon after the incident, minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma came out of his vehicle and was seen monitoring the situation and ordered the immediate evacuation of the victim to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). The GMCH then referred Chakma to Guwahati Neurological Research Centre Hospital, where he was declared dead.
