Guwahati: Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Roll

GUWAHATI: Nitin Khade, Chief Election Officer visited the office of District Election Officer, Kamrup Metropolitan District and held a meeting about the ongoing Special Summary Revision, 2020-21 with Biswajit Pegu District Commissioner (DC), Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election) Munindra Bordoloi, Election Officer (In-Charge) Bistirna Baru, and Electoral Registration Officer, Gauhati East Constituency, Aditya Gogoi.


Lakhinandan Saharia, ACS, Joint CEO, Election Department was also part of the meeting. 


The CEO interacted with the District Election Officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election), and Election Officer and took stock of the progress of the Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Roll with respect to 01-01-2021 as a qualifying date.

Further, he also held discussion with the Electoral Registration Officers and Booth Level Officers (BLO) of all the constituencies of Sans-up Metropolitan Election District and stressed upon publication of an error-free and quality Electoral Roll. 


On his interaction with the BLOs, he instructed them for a house to house visit to facilitate the young upcoming voters for registration in the Electoral Roll and also stressed upon the BLOs to make mandatory morning home visits thereof. 


During his visit, Nitin Khade, IAS, interacted with a young voter, Megha Murchana Borah, a badminton player, and spent some time with the young badminton player discussing the importance of young electors for a stronger democracy. 


Borah, who is a resident of Zoo Road, Guwahati, has done her state proud by representing the country in Surabaya Cup held in Indonesia at a very young age. She was a part of the prestigious Indian Open held in Delhi in 2019. 


The CEO remarked that being a young voter herself, she will act as a Brand Ambassador for the Election Department, Assam, thus highlighting the role of young voters thereof. Shri Shade also stressed upon the fact that all the young people who have attained the age of 18 years with respect to 01-01-2021 as the qualifying date should enroll themselves as young voters.
