Guwahati School Selected For India’s Largest Sports Quiz

 

GUWAHATI: Guwahati’s Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School is among eight schools from Assam that has been selected to compete in India's largest sports and fitness quiz.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the results of the preliminary rounds for the 3rd edition of the Fit India Quiz (FIQ) on March 8th, 2024, revealing an overwhelming response from students across India. With a staggering registration figure of 1,03,671 students from 41,789 schools nationwide, the FIQ 2023 spans 36 States and Union Territories, offering a total cash award of ₹3.25 crore.

Launched in 2021, the Fit India Quiz aims to foster a culture of fitness and sports among school children, providing them with a national platform to showcase their knowledge and appreciation of India's rich sporting heritage.

The 3rd edition of the quiz was inaugurated on August 29, 2023, by the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Singh Thakur, during the National Sports Day event at JLN Stadium, New Delhi. 

The preliminary rounds, conducted online by NTA on December 21st and 22nd, 2023, tested participants' knowledge in an engaging mobile-based format.

In the latest development, 256 schools from 28 states and 8 Union Territories have been selected to compete in the State/UT rounds of the Fit India Quiz. Among these, Assam stands proud with eight schools qualifying for the state-level competition.

These schools include Army Public School and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School from Sonitpur district, Kendriya Vidyalaya RC Doomdoma and Budding Buds Senior Secondary School from Tinsukia district, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya from Biswanath district, Carmel School from Jorhat district and Delhi Public School Nazira from Sivsagar district, besides Guwahati’s Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School from Kamrup (Metro) district.

These qualified schools will now vie against their counterparts from across India at the state level for the coveted title of National Champion of the Fit India Quiz 2023. The state-level competition is scheduled to take place on March 14 in Guwahati.
