Guwahati Road Safety Committee Reviews Plans For Durgotsav Transport

GUWAHATI: A meeting of the Kamrup Metropolitan District Road Safety Committee was held on October 4, at the district commissioner's office, focusing on maintaining safe and smooth transport during the upcoming Durgotsav celebrations.

The meeting was chaired by District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, with District Development Commissioner Parijat Bhuyan, Assistant Commissioner of the Transport Department, Gautam Das, Deputy Commissioner of the Traffic Branch Jayanta Sarathi Bora, and other senior officials from various departments in attendance.

During the meeting, a review of the past road safety measures in the district was conducted. The District Commissioner emphasised the importance of preventing traffic congestion during the Durgotsav period, ensuring that safe traffic conditions are maintained across Kamrup Metropolitan district. He urged the road safety authorities to coordinate effectively and ensure smooth operations, particularly around temporary markets and shops set up during the festival, to avoid any chaos or disruption to public movement.

Authorities were instructed to strictly monitor traffic routes, especially those expected to face a surge in vehicles, and ensure the enforcement of road safety rules.
