Two-wheeler drivers of Rapido, Uber, and Ola are staging a protest against the high rate of commission taken by the management despite lowering the fares.

Bhargav, a captain (driver) of Rapido, speaking to G Plus said, "The commission that the offices take from us have been raised to 30 percent, from the Rs. 4 they used to charge from us for every trip. Further, although fuel prices are ever-increasing, the ride fares have been lowered. The rides that earlier cost Rs. 50 have been lowered to Rs. 25-30. We are basically doing social service here, and there is no earning."

The drivers of the various organisations have also informed that there are no physical offices of Rapido, Uber, and Ola in Guwahati. While Uber and Ola have closed their offices around two months back, Rapido has also done the same about a month ago, making it difficult for associates and drivers to talk to the management directly.

It was also informed that from 15th December, the four-wheeler drivers are to join forces for a protest until their demands are met.

Several regular commuters of these public services were seen facing difficulties today morning.

A commuter told G Plus, "I used to travel by bus. But due to the pandemic, it does not feel safe. Rather than travelling on mass transit, private taxis were safer. It will be difficult if the strike continues."
