Guwahati: Rapido Driver Arrested For Alleged Mobile Snatching

 

GUWAHATI: The Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) team from Chandmari arrested Rapido driver Ashan Choudhury on Wednesday, September 11, in Jyotinagar after he allegedly snatched a mobile phone from a passerby at Railway Colony Bazaar, Bamuni Maidam. 

Choudhury attempted to flee the scene but was quickly tracked down and apprehended by the police. During the arrest, police recovered another mobile phone from Choudhury, which is suspected to be stolen. Legal action has been initiated against Choudhury, and the investigation is ongoing.

In a separate incident, Jalukbari police under West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) arrested Abdul Rahman of Garigaon after he attempted to snatch a mobile phone from a specially-abled individual near the Jalukbari flyover.

Rahman's attempt was unsuccessful, resulting in his arrest. Additionally, Sukur Ali of Boko, suspected of receiving and selling snatched and stolen phones, was also detained. Police recovered five more mobile phones from Ali, which are believed to be stolen. Legal action has been initiated.
