GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (M) district administration has declared a protected area in GS Road, Guwahati.
As per an order shared with G Plus, in specified areas of GS road, there will be restrictions in place.
The protected area is covered by:
East- Southern side of the G.S. Road starting from Ganeshguri Flyover up to Super Market Police Point
South- 60 ft road staring from Super Market Police Point to Last Gate
West- From Last Gate along the R.P. Road up to the entry point A.L.A
North- From Ganesh Mandir up to Ganeshguri Chariali.
"It has been made to appear to me that in the matter of public interest and in the interest of safety and security, it is considered extremely expedient to take and ensure special precautions in order to regulate the entry of unauthorized persons into the areas specified in the schedule shown below, except the bonafide residents and public servants of the Assam Civil Secretariat and other offices attached thereto with or without arms, ammunitions explosives substances and weapons of any nature, either in vehicles or any means of transport or otherwise and being satisfied on such expedience," stated Kamrup Metropolitan Deputy Commissioner (DC) Biswajit Pegu, IAS in an order dated May 17, Monday.
"In the exercise of powers conferred upon me U/S 8E read with Section 2 of the Assam Maintenance of Public Order Act, 1947 do hereby order and declare the scheduled area as 'PROTECTED AREA' under Section 8 of the aforesaid Act with effect from 17th May, 2021 until further orders of modification/revocation/cancellation or withdrawal," the order further reads.
No person or group of persons, except the bonafide residents and public servants as mentioned in the paragraph above, shall enter into or stay in or pass over or loiter in or around the scheduled area in the vicinity thereof without prior permission from the District Magistrate, Kamrup Metropolitan or any officer duly authorized by him on his behalf or the Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, Assam or the Secretary, Assam Legislative Assembly or an officer duly authorized by him.
\Violation of this order by any person shall be liable to be punished under Sub-Section (5) of Section 8 F of the Act.
