GUWAHATI: In a thrilling Guwahati Premier Football League (GPFL) encounter between GPlus Athletic (GPA) and Young Amateur Club (YAC) at the Judges' Field of Guwahati on December 27, GPlus Athletic came out on top courtesy of two beautifully-crafted goals. The match ended 2-0.
After a competitive first half with GPlus Athletic squandering several good chances and hitting the woodwork on numerous occasions, YAC had the best chance of the game but GPlus Athletic’s goalkeeper pulled out a save-of-the-season contender.
GPlus Athletic took the lead when a corner kick was converted skilfully by Wilbert Marbariang in the 62nd minute courtesy of a stunning scorpion kick, which might well have been the goal of the season so far. The game was sealed by Arnesius Marweir's header from a pinpoint cross in the 65th minute.
With this, GPlus Athletic have now played four matches out of which the team have won three and lost one. The player of the match was awarded to Marweir for his extraordinary performance.
He was awarded a trophy and ₹2100 cash prize. NFRSA and NEUFC will face off against each other in the next match at 5 PM.
