GUWAHATI: A sub-inspector from Dispur police station has been suspended for allegedly stealing 60 gold biscuits from police custody.
The sub-inspector, who has been identified as Nipu Kalita has fled and has not been found since January 15 after stealing these gold biscuits.
Two others are involved in the incident as well, Constable Faijur Rahman and Home Guard Afjal Ali. They too have stolen gold biscuits worth lakhs of rupees from the police station and have fled since.
A case has been registered in Dispur Police Office. Three people have also given statements in connection to this case under CrPC 164, who confessed that they helped the accused in stealing.
The Joint Commissioner of police is investigating this matter.
