GUWAHATI: A journalist and a city police official have been taken into custody, after a huge sum of cash was allegedly recovered from their possession on November 29 near Garigaon, Guwahati.
According to official information, the journalist has been identified as Toufiq Uddin Ahmed, and the official is the Sub-Inspector (SI) of Bharalumukh Police Station.
Speaking to GPlus, a police official of Bharalumukh Police Station said, "An amount of ₹30 lakh has been recovered from each of them.”
He further stated that Toufiq Uddin was brought to the Bharalumukh Police Station on the night of November 29 from Garigaon locality and currently he and the SI are being interrogated by the officials.
"The journalist and the official were part of a modus operandi where they were transferring cash to different places of India," the official further added.
Following the incident, the police are investigating into this matter and further details will be provided later.
