GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident, a constable of the Assam police was dismissed from his duty after being allegedly found drunk and asleep while on sentry duty at the Fatasil Police Station in Guwahati.
According to an official statement released by the Police Department, the official identified to be Nripendra Kumar failed to respond to repeated calls made to him. Acting on suspicion, senior police officials conducted a special night round on Monday and discovered him sleeping inside the police station, as per reports.
Upon waking him up, it became evident that Kumar was heavily intoxicated, reports stated. This grave lapse in professionalism and commitment to duty led to his immediate yet temporary suspension.
