Guwahati: Police Bust Drug Trafficking Gang, Seize Heroin And Cash

 

GUWAHATI: In a significant operation, the Guwahati Police on Sunday successfully apprehended four individuals believed to be part of a drug trafficking gang.

The operation was carried out by the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) team from Jorabat Outpost (OP) of Basistha Police Station.

The arrest led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of suspected heroin and various other items.

The individuals arrested have been identified as Prem Gogoi from 13 Mile, Bhaskarjyoti Bori, a resident of Silapathar, Majun Umbang, from Kulajan and Jhon Patir, also from Silapathar.

The EGPD team, acting on credible intelligence, carried out the operation precisely, apprehending these suspects concerning drug trafficking activities.

The arrest took place after surveillance and investigation in which the police confiscated a total of 21 soapboxes containing a substantial quantity of suspected heroin, which weighed approximately 251.2 grams.

Additionally, the following items were seized from the possession of the arrested individuals which included a sedan car, 6 mobile phones, and a sum of ₹1,16,030 in cash.

Guwahati Police took to Twitter to put out, “An EGPD team from Jorabat OP of Basistha PS busted a gang of drug traffickers after it arrested 4 thugs - Prem Gogoi of 13 Mile, Bhaskarjyoti Bori of Silapathar, Majun Umbang of Kulajan & Jhon Patir of Silapathar along with 21 soap boxes containing suspected heroin weighing 251.2 gms. 1 Baleno car (AS01 FK 1067), 6 mobile phones, ₹1,16,030 in cash were recovered from their possession. Legal action initiated.”

The Guwahati Police have initiated legal action against the arrested individuals, who are now in police custody.
