GUWAHATI: Cyber criminals are on the move and have found a new way to hack into Automated Teller Machines (ATM) and loot money from citizens in Guwahati.
According to reports, some miscreants hacked into the SBI ATM located in Last gate area below Hotel Heritage in Guwahati on Thursday, August 22 using some sophisticated ATM hacking software.
Reportedly, a citizen while trying to withdraw money from the ATM inserted his card and found the machine to be suspicious. He then alerted the concerned bank officials and police.

Upon checking the CCTV footage, it was found that some miscreants inserted a highly sophisticated hacking tool which has a camera, card reader and a chip which can easily break into customers account.
Meanwhile, with the help of Hatigaon police, bank officials have sealed the ATM for further investigation.
Hatigaon Police have retrieved the CCTV footage and are currently investigating the matter.
It should be mentioned that a similar ATM hacking technique was earlier reported in Bangalore and Mumbai and according to officials, this is the first time this kind of an incident has been reported in Assam.
