Guwahati Man Lodges FIR, after Post on Social Media to Kill Himanta Biswa Goes Viral

GUWAHATI: A Guwahati-based man who is accused of sharing a post to kill Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, lodges complaint at the Paltan Bazar police station.

Earler, on October 30, a Facebook post was surfaced on social media by a user named "Rajiv Hunter Rahman" wherein the Minister was abused and was threatened to be kill within 10 days. 

However, Rahman claimed that the post was not shared or published by him on his Facebook timeline and it was an act of photoshop.

Speaking to media, Rahman said, "Somebody used my Facebook DP, pasted the post separately and circulated the image on social media making it look like I posted the message. My photograph, name was used and the message was added separately to ruin my image."

Deepak Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Guwahati said that Rahman himself approached the police and said that his name was used to spread rumours. 

Currently cyber and technical team are investigating the matter.

Earlier, a youth from Assam, Manuruddin Rahman, had landed in the police net after threatening to kill Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on social media.
