GUWAHATI: Residents of Pandu Station Colony found themselves wading through water on Thursday, February 27, after a substandard water supply project led to severe flooding in the area. The project, initially undertaken by Gammon, falls under the West Guwahati Water Supply Project (WSP).

According to a source from the Guwahati Jal Board (GJB), a fault within the network caused the water to gush out uncontrollably. “A plate within the network opened up, leading to a significant spill. The issue will be rectified today,” the source assured.

However, locals claim the problem has been ongoing for days. “The issue began two days ago, but now the situation is dire,” a resident told GPlus.

While the GJB has promised immediate action, the repeated failures in Guwahati’s water supply infrastructure continue to raise concerns about the quality of execution and maintenance. Whether immediate steps will be taken remains to be seen, but for now, Pandu residents are left dealing with an unwanted ‘supply’ of water.
