GUWAHATI: A girl was arrested on Friday, September 27 evening by Dispur police for the alleged murder of her mother, Manju Devi, at their residence in Purnima Mansion, Chachal, Guwahati.

The accused, identified as Tania Kumari, reportedly struck her 40-year-old mother to death with a mortar pestle following a heated altercation. The incident is believed to have taken place around 7:30 PM while the girl’s father, Deep Chand Prasad, a tennis coach, was away.
According to police sources, the mother and daughter were engaged in a fierce argument that quickly escalated. In a fit of rage, Tania allegedly grabbed the heavy mortar pestle and repeatedly struck her mother, causing fatal injuries.
Neighbours alerted the authorities after hearing the commotion. Dispur police arrived at the scene shortly after, where they arrested the accused and took her into custody.
An officer from Dispur Police Station confirmed that the accused is currently being interrogated, and a full investigation is underway to uncover the details surrounding the incident.
