GUWAHATI: The much-anticipated second edition of "The Rising Sun Water Fest - Revisiting Saraighat" was officially announced during a curtain-raiser event at Narangi Military Station, Guwahati.
This event, organised by the Red Horns Division on behalf of the Army's Eastern Command and the Assam Government, promises an exhilarating blend of water sports, historical commemoration, and thrilling demonstrations by Special Forces and the Indian Air Force.
The festival pays tribute to the legendary Saraighat Battle of 1671, a historic moment when the courageous Ahom forces, led by Lachit Borphukan, emerged victorious over the Mughals on the Brahmaputra River.
As a symbol of excellence, the ceremony began with the unveiling of trophies that will be awarded to the winners of the sailing and rowing competitions.
With participation from renowned national-level clubs, the event promises to showcase exceptionally talented and dedicated athletes in both sailing and rowing.
This three-day celebration of water sports and historical valour is poised to take place at the Deepor Beel, Guwahati, from November 17 to November 20.
