According to Public Works Department (PWD) officials, the footpath, constructed approximately seven years ago, has been subjected to heavy vehicular traffic not intended for such surfaces. Despite prior concerns raised about vehicles using footpaths, minimal action has been taken to address the issue.
Additionally, the official mentioned that there is no sewerage infrastructure beneath this particular footpath.
PWD officials have announced that restoration work will begin before Durga Puja, with an emphasis on implementing safety measures during the repair process.
