GUWAHATI: Footpath and street businesses have been prohibited across two areas under the Bhangagarh and Dispur Police Station (PS).
The two areas earmarked through an order are:
1. From Bhangagarh flyover to Roopnagar Rotary
2. From Six Mile flyoevr to Panjabari
The decision was announced through a notification by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration Hemanta Kumar Das on Monday, February 28.
The order has come into force with immediate effect.
The prohibition has been initiated to ensure free and smooth movement of public, flow of traffic and normal functioning of business establishments in the aforementioned areas. Street vendors have been causing inconveniences to the pedestrians and public by installing shops on footpaths and roads, which also functions as a space for criminal activities like robbing, etc.
