GUWAHATI: The Old Jail campus at Fancy Bazar has been opened for parking of all types of cars with immediate effect.
"In the interest of public conveniences due to Covid-19 pandemic, all types of cars are allowed to park temporarily within the premise of Old Jail land campus at Fancy Bazar," states the order issued by Gauhati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) on May 8.
The structure of parking fees is as follows:
Private vehicles - 4 wheeler (Rs 10 for first two hours and Rs 10 for subsequent hours), 2 wheeler (Rs 5 for first two hours and Rs 5 for subsequent hours)
Commercial vehicles - 3 wheeler (Rs 20 for first two hours and Rs 20 for subsequent hours), 4 wheeler (Rs 30 for first two hours and Rs 30 for subsequent hours), 6 wheeler (Rs 40 for first two hours and Rs 40 for subsequent hours)
However, medical practitioners, press, police and government officials on Covid-19 duty will be exempted from payment if ID cards are produced.

The parking shall be strictly on the designated space only for a period of 6 months and extendable from the date of order.
While the parking hours are 7 AM to 9 PM, the closing time will be restricted to 5:30 PM due to the ongoing curfew. No night parking facilities are available.
Social distancing is to be maintained at the parking zone as per norms. Loitering and consumption of alcohol/paan/gutka within the parking area are strictly prohibited.
