GUWAHATI: In a significant development, the Employment Exchange Office in Guwahati is set to undergo a transformation into a District Youth Welfare Centre in the near future.

This decision comes as a result of the registration process being shifted to an online platform, rendering the office's current functionality redundant.

The announcement was made by Jayanta Mallabaruah, Minister of the Department of Tourism, who stated that each district in Assam will have its own Youth Welfare Centre.

"We have proposed the establishment of a Youth Welfare Centre for every district in Assam. This idea was put forth during the first cabinet meeting, and we expect the process to be finalised soon," said Mallabaruah.

The initiative aims to provide better opportunities and support for the youth in the region. The planning and implementation of the Centre's operations have been carefully undertaken, with the involvement of senior officials and ACS officers.

The District Youth Welfare Centre will encompass various facilities, including a Model Career Centre and a Counselling Centre, among others. These resources are intended to assist young individuals in their career development and provide guidance for personal and professional growth.

Notably, the Employment Exchange Office will continue to function as a part of the Centre, catering to official queries and providing information related to employment.
