GUWAHATI: Taking a leaf out of Meghalaya's book, Assam is now determined to make Guwahati and Dibrugarh concert capitals of India. Delivering his valedictory address at the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit on Wednesday, February 26, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the two regions will focus on boosting music tourism and large-scale live events through concerts.

“Concert culture will be prioritised in Assam,” Sarma said, addressing the attendees at the event. “Like Meghalaya, Assam will focus on generating revenue through concerts in the near future.”
Sarma revealed that new areas had been identified to host concert venues, while stressing that prioritising the concert industry would not only put Assam on the national entertainment map but also contribute to the local economy by attracting international and domestic artists, event organisers, and music enthusiasts.
At the summit, as of 2 PM, 268 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) had been signed at the summit, representing a cumulative investment commitment of ₹2.23 lakh crore. Of these, 232 MoUs involve financial investments, while 36 MoUs focus on knowledge-sharing, skill development, and strategic partnerships. Assam Minister Bimal Bora assured that all agreements would undergo a thorough evaluation before implementation.
Following 2 PM, another ₹40,000-₹50,000 crore worth of MoUs were signed.
