Guwahati: Devotees To Witness ‘Kalpanik Temple’ At Dispur Durga Puja Pandal

GUWAHATI: The Dispur Sarbajanin Puja Committee is set to captivate devotees and visitors alike with their innovative “Kalpanik Temple”-themed Durga Puja pandal. Located near Ananda Nagar on GS Road, this puja committee is determined to make a memorable mark with their distinctive and eco-friendly approach.

With a budget of Rs 9 lakhs allocated for the puja pandal, this committee boasts a remarkable 64 years of celebrating Durga Puja. The festivities will unfold from October 20 to 24, inviting everyone to experience their unique creation.

Speaking to GPlus, a member of the Dispur Sarbajanin Puja Committee member highlighted their desire to stand out from the commercialised pandals that are often seen during the festive season. Their choice to portray a "kalpanik temple" or fictional temple as the central theme is a bold and refreshing deviation from tradition.

A significant aspect of this theme is its commitment to eco-friendliness, emphasised by the exclusive use of jute and hay as their primary construction material. The exterior of the puja pandal will feature intricate designs, raising awareness about critical issues such as water pollution and air pollution.
