GUWAHATI: A team from Sonapur Police Station under the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) intercepted a truck allegedly attempting to smuggle live cattle near the Sonapur Tollgate on October 26.
As per reports, the seized vehicle was attempting to smuggle a total of 40 live cattle into the neighbouring state of Meghalaya yesterday night. The truck was seized and the cattle have been safely taken into custody. Additionally, two individuals involved in the smuggling attempt have been apprehended.
Guwahati Police took to X to put out, “An EGPD team from Sonapur PS intercepted a truck (NL01 AF 0592) at a place near Sonapur Toll gate while it was trying to smuggle 40 live cattle into Meghalaya last night. All the cattle were rescued & 2 thugs were arrested. Legal action initiated.”

The authorities have initiated the necessary legal proceedings against the arrested individuals.
