Guwahati Bylanes Suffer From Waterlogging Woes

GUWAHATI: The streets of Guwahati have submerged under water after repeated showers in the last two days. The people of Ambari, Sarania, Rehabari, Hatigaon among others have faced the problem of water-logging.

The road near Ambari, just adjacent to the AGP office has been adversely affected.

"The drain is clean but the water doesn't reach the upstream drain ahead and as such we have this problem," said a student.

In South Sarania, the bylanes have been affected after the water clogged the drain.

"While going to office, I had to walk over knee-deep water," Abhishek Beriwal told G Plus.

"The drains in the bylane are clogged with garbage. As such, the road gets filled due to a lack of drainage. The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) comes and cleans the drain but doesn't take away the waste. When it rains, the same discharge falls in the drain again," said Beriwal.

A similar situation persists in Rehabari. In Bylane 2, clogged drains created water-logging in Amtolla Gali.

Garbage and clogged drains have been one of the key reasons for creating inconvenience for the citizens across Guwahati.
