GUWAHATI: The IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Guwahati which was reportedly diverted to Dhaka, Bangladesh due to bad weather conditions in Guwahati, safely landed at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) at around 11:00 AM on January 13.
Talking to GPlus, an official from LGBIA said, "Due to poor visibility the flight couldn't land in Guwahati. The alternate location was Kolkata but the weather didn't allow the flight to land there either. So according to the guideline of minimum fuel consumption, Dhaka was the closest option. And at present it has safely landed in Guwahati."
He further mentioned that once the flight lands at a certain location the crew should be allowed to rest for a while before taking off.
However, the passengers were kept informed of the updates and were served with timely refreshments on board.
It is to be mentioned that poor visibility often leads to such delays or diversions. For the safety of the passengers such decisions are very crucial, informed the official.
