GUWAHATI: The eagerly awaited Botanical Garden in Fancy Bazaar, Guwahati, has officially opened its gates to the public.
The garden will be accessible every day except Wednesdays, from 10 AM to 10 PM, offering extended hours for visitors to enjoy its scenic beauty.
The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) made the announcement via an official statement on social media platform X.
The management has introduced a tiered ticketing system to accommodate various age groups and needs. Here are the ticket prices:
- Children aged 0-3: Free
- Children aged 3-10: ₹20
- Individuals aged 10-75: ₹50
- Individuals aged 75 and above: Free
- Specially-abled individuals: Free
This long-awaited garden within the city is set to offer a range of amenities and attractions, including a Yoga Centre, providing a serene escape for residents and visitors alike.
The garden features an amphitheatre, serving as a space for cultural and recreational events.
The garden also has ponds, a Pergola and a memorial dedicated to the history and significance of the Jail Road area.
A facility to welcome and guide visitors is also part of the project, ensuring a pleasant experience for all. A tower offering elevated views of the garden's natural beauty and lush greenery has been erected. Enhancing access and aesthetics, a footbridge has also been constructed which spans over the South Pond.
These structures add to the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the garden. The botanical garden is the second of its kind in the city, following the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden.
