GUWAHATI: The six-lane Basistha-Jalukbari stretch of Guwahati Bypass will be formally inaugurated on March 14, around five months ahead of the stipulated deadline.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will do the honours.
The ₹300-crore 16.448-kilometre project includes four flyovers at Basistha, Lokhra, Gorchuk and Boragaon and a vehicular underpass at Lalmati.
The six-lane tunnels are 80 metres wide each
The road has, however, been operational for some time now.

It needs to be mentioned that the deadline to complete the project was August 2024.
The project includes 6 lanes of approaches from Jalukbari Point to Basistha Chariali on Guwahati Bypass (NH – 27) under Bharatmala Pariyojana on an engineering procurement construction (EPC) basis.
There are 26 box culverts along the stretch.

The consultant for the project is M/S TPF Engineering Pvt. Ltd. in association with M/S MAV Associates LLP.
The construction contractor of the project according to NHAI is M/S Dhariwal Buildtech Ltd.
The road has been converted from four lanes to six lanes (3 lanes on each side) with service lanes on both sides with roadside drains.
The budgets for the four flyovers are: Boragaon - ₹25.32 crore; Gorchuk - ₹25.64 crore; Lokhra- ₹31.83 crore and Basistha- ₹28.89 crore.
