Guwahati Among Top 10 Hottest Cities In India: Skymet Weather

GUWAHATI: Guwahati city has been listed in the top 10 hottest cities of India as mercury levels continue to rise across the country. 

Guwahati has ranked 10th in the list at 38.6 °C.

7 cities of Rajasthan top the list followed by Gujarat and Assam, making Guwahati the only city from the Northeast to make it to the top of the list.

Temperatures in Assam’s Guwahati this year seem to be higher than all cities in North and South India as well.

With the arrival of Southwest Monsoons sooner than expected, 2 weeks before the expected date of arrival, Skymet Weather has released a list of top 10 hottest cities in India.

6) Phalodi, Rajasthan – 40.4°C

7) Churu, Rajasthan – 39.3°C 

8) Deesa, Gujarat – 39.3°C

Notably, Deputy Director-General of Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati Dr. Sanjay Oniel, speaking to media, said that on August 5, the highest ever maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded in the city of Guwahati ever since a meteorological centre was established in Guwahati way back on 23rd July 1949, which is 70 years ago.
