GUWAHATI: A meeting was convened at the Kamrup Metropolitan District Commissioner's office to deliberate upon the upcoming Chhath Puja celebrations.
Dhrubajyoti Hazarika, the Additional District Commissioner in charge, presided over the meeting and issued a series of vital instructions concerning the festive observance of Chhath Puja.
The following are the guidelines issued:
- Puja Committees intending to construct Chhath Puja ghats must first seek formal approval from the respective police stations overseeing their areas.
- It has been strictly emphasised that no perilous or unsafe ghats should be permitted for worship.
- A comprehensive surveillance is required, advocating for the installation of closed-circuit cameras (CC cameras) at all Chhath Puja ghats.
- Adequate and well-placed lighting was deemed essential to ensure the security and comfort of participants.
- Sufficient number of volunteers should be deployed to manage and assist with the proceedings.
- Fitness certificates must be obtained for the pandals designated for the puja.
- Use of high-intensity sound equipment is strictly prohibited.
- Cultural programmes and festivities were directed to conclude by 10 PM
- Attendees have been urged to refrain from consuming alcohol or any other intoxicants within the vicinity of the place of worship.
