GUWAHATI: A group of men on motorcycles reportedly barged into the residence of a man in Dalgram village, under the jurisdiction of Nilambazar Police, and assaulted him and his family members in Sribhumi on December 10.

The victim, Jaharul Karim, claimed the assault stemmed from a financial dispute. According to him, he had allegedly invested several lakhs of rupees in a business deal involving the suspects—Abdul Manaf, Abdul Qadir, Abdul Basit, and Abdul Karim—who allegedly owed him the amount. When Jaharul demanded repayment, the accused reportedly retaliated by storming his home and launching a violent attack, targeting not just him but also his family. The attack, captured on CCTV, shows one of the attackers on a two-wheeler trying to run over Karim’s family.
The ruckus drew the attention of nearby villagers, who rushed to intervene, forcing the attackers to flee. Jaharul later reportedly filed a complaint at Nilambazar Police Station, providing details of the assault.
The incident was recorded on CCTV cameras near the house, capturing critical evidence for the ongoing investigation. Authorities have reportedly assured that they are thoroughly examining the footage and other leads to uncover the full truth and ensure justice for the victims.
