Grand Finale Of Lok Sabha Polls With Phase 7 Tomorrow

GUWAHATI: India is bracing for Phase 7 of the Lok Sabha polls, which marks the final leg of the world's largest polling marathon.

Scheduled for tomorrow, polling will take place across 57 Parliamentary Constituencies (PCs) spanning 8 States/UTs, including Bihar, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. Simultaneously, polling for the remaining 42 Assembly Constituencies of the Odisha State Legislative Assembly will also be conducted.

With Phase 7, the Lok Sabha election, which commenced on the 19th of last month, will come to a conclusion, having already covered 6 phases and 486 Lok Sabha seats. 

Concerned Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) and state machineries have been instructed to take necessary measures to manage adverse weather conditions. Despite hot weather conditions, voter turnout has been substantial in previous phases, with female voter turnout surpassing male turnout in the last two phases. 

Key highlights of Phase 7 include:

•    Polling for 57 Parliamentary Constituencies (General- 41; ST- 03; SC-13) across 8 States/UTs
•    Simultaneous polling for 42 Assembly Constituencies of the Odisha Legislative Assembly
•    Over 10.06 crore electors expected to cast their votes across ~1.09 lakh polling stations
•    Special measures in place for elderly and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) electors, including optional home voting
•    Deployment of special trains and helicopter sorties for transportation of polling and security personnel
•    Deployment of 172 Observers to ensure vigilance
•    Surveillance by flying squads, static surveillance teams, surveillance teams, and video viewing teams to prevent inducement of voters
•    Vigilance at international and inter-state border check posts to prevent illicit flow of liquor, drugs, cash, and freebies

The counting of votes will take place on 4th June.
