‘Golden Needle’ Tea Sold At Rs. 75,000 Per Kg

GUWAHATI: In another historic feat for the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC), a single line of 1.1 kg of ‘Golden Needle’ tea from Donyi Polo Tea Estate of Arunachal Pradesh was sold at a record price of Rs. 75,000 per kg by Contemporary Tea Brokers in GTAC sale number 34. 

The Secretary of Guwahati Auction Tea Buyers Association (GTABA), Dinesh Bihani, in an official statement said that the same tea estate had set a record last year when their tea was sold for Rs. 39,000 per kg.

The tea has been bought by Chattarsingh Narendra Kumar for his client, Absolute Tea. 

It should be noted that Bihani mentioned that these teas being sold for such high prices do not indicate the real picture of the tea industry in present times. However, the industry should appreciate these producers who are making this kind of specialty tea to make a name for the India tea industry in the world.
