GMDA Goes Paperless, Discontinues Cheque Payments

GUWAHATI: In a recent move, the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has made significant changes to its payment methods. As per a notice issued by the GMDA, the authority will discontinue the acceptance of payments made by cheque for various fees, lease payments, and other financial obligations.

The GMDA is urging the public to shift towards electronic payment methods and demand drafts when making payments of any kind. This decision comes as part of the authority's effort to streamline its financial transactions and promote more secure and efficient payment processes.

The GMDA, responsible for the development and management of Guwahati's metropolitan area, emphasised the need to adapt to modern payment methods and electronic transactions. Hence, cheques will no longer be considered as an acceptable payment option for any GMDA-related transactions.

While the GMDA is striving to ensure a smooth transition for its clients and users, the notice underlines the importance of embracing electronic payment options and utilising demand drafts for the settlement of fees and other financial dues.
