GUWAHATI: Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has imposed a penalty of ₹10,000 on a commercial establishment on AT Road for improper disposal of garbage. The penalty was imposed on Monday, February 25, as part of the ongoing efforts to enforce cleanliness regulations in the city.

GMC took to its official X handle, stating, “Dump garbage on roads, pay the fine, it’s that simple. GMC imposed a penalty of ₹10,000/- on a commercial establishment in AT Road for improper disposal of garbage.”
This follows a penalty conducted earlier on Thursday, February 20, when GMC imposed fines of ₹1.3 lakh in a single day for violations of civic regulations. Among those penalised, a resident of Paltan Bazar was fined ₹80,000 for dumping garbage on the road, while a well-known shopping mall on G.S. Road faced a ₹50,000 fine for operating without a valid trade licence.
