GUWAHATI: In a bid to clear the confusion regarding the holding numbers provided by Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), GMC Commissioner, Megh Nidhi Dahal took to Twitter to clear the confusion. The tweet provided a link to generate the holding numbers. He further added that there is no reason to visit any office.
Dahal tweeted, "Please use the link: https://gmcpropertytax.com to generate one from the comforts of your home. No need to visit any office!"
Many residents were earlier confused regarding how to avail of the holding numbers provided by GMC which are now mandatory to be merged with electricity bills.
A holding number is a unique number that is generated against a property that is assessed by the GMC. A total of 2,50,000 holding numbers were provided by the GMC to the applicants. 3,30,000 consumers are registered with the Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APDCL) for electricity connections. Therefore, it means 80,000 consumers are there who do not have a holding number against the property they inherit.
