GUWAHATI: Senior advocate of the Supreme Court and convenor, Prabajan Virodhi Manch (PVM), Upamanyu Hazarika on 3rd April 2019 submitted his nomination papers to Returning Officer Kamal Kumar Baishya as an independent candidate for the Gauhati Lok Sabha seat.
After filing, Hazarika said that he is contesting elections to fight for the rights of the indigenous people and also urged the people to vote for him in order to protect the identity of Assam.
He further added that national parties ignorant towards the indigenous people of Assam and he would work in for the indigenous people of State.
Hazarika would compete with BJP’s Queen Oja, Congress Bobbeeta Sharma and Trinamool Congress (TMC)’s Manoj Sharma, Bharatiya Gana Parishad’s Dr Avijit Chakraborty and Swarna Bharat Party’s Pankaj Das in Gauhati.
