The gang, which has been causing alarm across the city, was captured on CCTV in one such robbery, an incident that was widely publicised by local media outlets.
The gang hails from Dalgaon in Darrang district. They have been committing crimes in the city after dark, carrying out thefts, and then returning to their base in Darrang. One of the key suspects, Jainal Abedin, works as an Uber driver in Guwahati.
Authorities believe he played a crucial role in facilitating the gang’s movements and transporting them to and from the crime scenes. In addition to Abedin, another individual named Dilwar Khan, a well-known figure in local criminal circles, was arrested. Khan, who has a history of involvement in criminal activities, has been apprehended on multiple occasions by Guwahati police for receiving stolen goods.
Further investigations are underway to identify additional members of the gang.
