FSSAI Trains Over 1,200 Street Food Vendors In Guwahati To Enhance Food Safety

 

GUWAHATI: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Guwahati, under the Eastern Regional Office Kolkata, conducted a one-day training programme for over 1,200 street food vendors at ITA Machkhowa in Guwahati on Wednesday, March 19. The programme aimed to equip vendors with essential knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and regulatory compliance, ensuring safer street food for consumers.

The session covered critical aspects such as personal hygiene, safe food handling, cooking practices, waste management, and adherence to the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. A special focus was placed on Schedule 4 guidelines, which outline the licensing and registration requirements for food businesses.

Notably, FSSAI’s Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) programme has successfully trained over 22 lakh food handlers, significantly contributing to food safety across India since its launch in 2017.
