Four Villages Of Assam’s Cachar Declared Child Marriage-Free

 

GUWAHATI: Assam has taken a step in its mission to eradicate child marriage, with Cachar district leading the charge as four villages have been declared free of child marriage. These villages are Rukni Part IV, Bhairabpur Part I, Rosekandy Grant I, and Rosekandy Grant II. This breakthrough is under the initiative of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma commended this achievement, reaffirming the government’s commitment to securing a brighter future for girls in the state. “Assam has taken a firm stance against child marriage. We are putting the last nail in the coffin of this social evil across the State.” the Chief Minister stated, sharing the accomplishment on social media platform X. “Leading by example, 4 villages in Cachar have been declared Child Marriage Free recently ensuring a bright future for our girls,” the post added.
